Here at Baltimore Sports Report we are going to keep you updated to how the top Orioles prospects are doing in the farm System.

C  Matt Wieters– Wieters returned last night from a hamstring injury that has sidelined him for nearly a week. Serving as the teams DH he went 1-4 including a run scored. Since he was hurt, their is not a whole lot of new information on the O’s top prospect.

OF Nolan Reimold– Reimold continues to pound Triple A pitching. He’s batting .420 with 3 homeruns and 15 RBI’s. As the Orioles try to figure out who their future left fielder is,  it’s important to note that Reimold has 0 errors through 13 games. If Nolan Reimold continues to tear through International League pitching there’s a good chance we’ll see him in a Orioles uniform sometime this year.

Nolan Reimold

SP Chris Tillman– Chris Tillman has pitched two games and has a no decision in both outings. He’s pitched eight innings this year and has given up 3 earned runs while striking out 9. Tillman continues to impress in Triple A despite being years younger than the hitters he’s facing.

1B Brandon Snyder– After finishing well in the Carolina League last season, Snyder looks to have carried that success with him to Double A. Snyder is hitting .360 with two home runs and 9 RBIs. Snyder has struck out nine times on the young season but Orioles fans should not be worried. He started slow in Frederick last year before tearing up the Carolina League in the second half.

SP Jake Arrieta– Arrieta has a record of 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA through 3 appearances. He has pitched a total of 12 innings this year averaging to four a start.  A extremely confident pitcher, look for Arrieta to continue to mow down hitters as he tries to make his case to appear in Camden Yards sometime this season.

Jake Arrieta
SP Troy Patton– Last night marked the end to Troy Pattens scoreless streak to begin the season. He had pitched 17.1 scoreless innings this year until he gave up a two run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. He pitched well even though he gave up the two run shot, he only allowed two hits through 5.1 innings of work.

Sp David Hernandez– A new addition to the Around the Farm feature, Hernandez pitched well last night to gain his first win in Triple A. Hernandez pitched six innings, gave up three runs while striking out 8. It was Hernandez’s first win with Norfolk who has been streaking of late. Their win last night marked the Tides 8th straight win.

Brad Bergesen and Lou Montanez were included in the prospect update for last week. but as we all know, they have both been promoted to Baltimore. If you have any prospects you’d like BSR to update in our weekly report let us know and we’ll include them.
