It’s do or die for the Washington Capitals tonight. In a rare back to back game, the Caps have to get a win in Tampa Bay down 3-0 to the Lightning. Panic has set in among Capitals fans and one ESPN analyst and friend of Washington’s coach Bruce Boudreau, Barry Melrose, thinks its all over again for the Caps.
The Washington Post’s Dan Steinberg quoted Melrose on the matchup.
“Tampa’s a better team,” the analyst, former Tampa coach and friend of Bruce Boudreau said. “They’re better fundamentally. You saw the game Washington was leading. They scored first, which was very important — they hadn’t done that — so that bodes well for them. They had the lead going into the third period, that bodes well for them. And they can’t get the job done.
Melrose criticized Washington’s fundamental errors, but praised the play of Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin.
