I’ve got a admit, the colossal disaster that Rex Ryan created in New York makes me happy. Does that make me a bad person?
I loved the guy here in Baltimore and that he was a brilliant mind when it came to NFL defenses, but he antics got old and I said long ago that the beast he created with the Jets would ultimately lead to his demise.
We haven’t gotten that far yet, but based on Bart Scott’s recent frustrations, we can’t be too far away.
According to Gregg Rosenthal of ProFootballTalk.com*, Scott is guaranteed $4.2 million this season and has been given permission to seek a trade. Scott’s agent, Harold Lewis, told Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com that his client was “extremely frustrated” in his diminished role and said it was “destroying him” when he was demoted to a part-time player.
Lewis said that Scott would jump from Jets to Giants “in a heartbeat,” but I would expect that he should prepare to do so for less money. In all likelihood this former Raven should brace himself for a restructured deal or prepare to be cut.
I will say I partially agree with you,,,,,,,,this system was created by a team of very smart defensive minds , it leads to dominating defense if the right personnel is acquired,,,,,,,,,,Bart Scott was an integral part of this defense and was sorely missed when he left,,,,,,,,,that being said , it is my opinion , any system will work if you have quality players,,,,,,,,,,,,which came first the players or the system , we might find out when Ray and Ed retire…………..
Colossal disaster is completely ridiculous, but that’s for a different time. Bart Scott can complain as much as he wants about Rex, and I could care less. Why? Because he’s not any good anymore, and Rex recognized it. Bart is 32 at this point, has only finished in the top 40 in tackles once in his career, and is now the biggest coverage liability on that defense not named Eric Smith. As far as being “completely frustrated”, let me know when the good players on the Jets defense start complaining, not the old yellow flag magnet who can’t play well enough to start anymore.
Scott’s bark was always bigger than his bite. His success in Baltimore was a product of the system. See also Adelius Thomas, Ed Hartwell, etc for guys who got famous here, left for more money, and then blended right back in. Scott is that guy, except his mouth was big enough he stayed more visible. Now, he’s going to have trouble getting signed, unless the Jets cut him outright, which is unlikely given the guaranteed money involved. And who’s going to trade for him and pick up his disproportionately high salary?
Funny, we all loved him when he was here.
We’re like a bunch of jilted lovers. If someone leaves Baltimore – whether they wanted to or not (see Rex Ryan) we love to tear them down.
You are right I feel like a jilted lover too. The Intimidator and are are no longer an item…
That’s your fault, Nails you left him.
We all loved him when he was here? Maybe…Some certainly loved him more than others when headed up I-95 and became “the resident expert on all that was wrong with his former team”…He’s just another guy who, when he was here, was rarely, if ever, part of a defense that game up with a game-winning stop…As Casey Stengle used to say, “you can look it up”…
they did go to 2 afc championship games…i assume you are kidding when you say ‘colossal disaster’
