Buck Showalter - Orioles manager
All October long, Baltimore has cheered against the Boston Red Sox. Orioles fans have pulled for the Rays, the Tigers and now the Cardinals this postseason. Boston holds a 3-2 lead over St. Louis with the two games remaining to be played at Fenway Park.

As Orioles fans have already begun dreading the return of Red Sox Nation to Camden Yards in 2014, O’s skipper Buck Showalter told Dan Patrick he’s cheering the Birds’ AL East rivals.

“I’m pulling for the Red Sox from an American League standpoint — the American League East, but you know I’m not glued to the TV,” Showalter told Patrick.

Showalter admitted that he hasn’t paid close attention to the postseason because he wants to be there. I can understand.

But pulling for the Red Sox? I guess it makes the East look strong, but I was a bit surprised by the comment from the O’s skipper. In the past, Showalter has been very critical of the Sox. Remember his comments about Theo Epstein?

“I’d like to see how smart Theo Epstein is with the Tampa Bay payroll,” Showalter told the magazine. ”You got Carl Crawford cause you paid more than anyone else, and that’s what makes you smarter? That’s why I like whipping their butt. It’s great, knowing those guys with the $205 million payroll are saying, ‘How the hell are they beating us?’”
