It’s far too early for ESPN’s Keith Law to name his top 100 prospects, but he can certainly publish of list of the top 25.
And as Orioles fans that’s all we need to see because Dylan Bundy is the top prospect in all of baseball and Manny Machado comes in at number three on Law’s list. Not too shabby.
You may remember that Law openly criticized the Orioles cautious handling of Dylan Bundy. Back in April, Law said the Orioles were “babying” Bundy and said that it was “a mistake” to start him at Low-A this season.
He took another jab in his top 25 list, saying the O’s are being “bizarre” and “ultraconservation.” Nonetheless, Bundy ranks number one.
“[H]e didn’t just dominate inferior competition in low Class A, he did it with the stuff and polish that could, in another organization, have had him in the big leagues this year or at the start of 2013,” Law wrote.
As for Machado, Law thinks his offense has been gradually heating up this season. His average is up to .271 and even though he’s only hit two homers at Double-A Bowie, Law says he has “power potential.”
