The Osi Umenyiora watch is beginning to heat up here in Baltimore. ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio is reporting that the New York Giants granted Umenyiora’s agent permission to seek a trade on Monday. Umenyiora was hoping for a new deal with New York and was holding out until the weekend.
According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, the Ravens are among five teams that remain interested in trading for Umenyiora. The other four include the St. Louis Rams, the San Diego Chargers, the Seattle Seahawaks and the Denver Broncos.
Gregg Rosenthal reports that the Giants are seeking a first round pick for Umenyiora, which could be a little steep. Especially for the Ravens. Rosenthal thinks that the price will have to drop if the Giants are serious about moving him.
Osi U. would be a great addition to the Ravens.
We have question marks in the pass rush and Osi would fill that need.
Ozzie is making an effort to go younger, but Osi still has a few years left (not unlike another great Raven DE). I wouldn’t give more than a 2nd for him (that is after all where the Giants drafted him in 2003). Asking for a 1st is a bit crazy if you ask me.
Offer a 2nd and walk if it isn’t taken immediately
Crazy to think he is worth anything better than a third rounder,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Ravens can’t do anything until after Halotti is signed anyway………..
@MadPup, I agree with you but using the logic to only trade him for a 2nd rounder because thats where he was drafted doesnt work 🙂
The Ravens are not going to sign this guy. They are taking a page from the Orioles book and blowing smoke up your rear ends!
