Win the rare, misprinted and discolored Brian Roberts Bobblehead!

By now you should know that BSR is all about giving away tickets, merchandise or memorabilia. Today, we’re kicking off our week long giveaway of the rare, misprinted and discolored Brian Roberts bobblehead.

Remember when the Orioles gave away the Roberts bobblehead, but their initial order had a misprinted version of the bobblehead? Supposedly, the discolored bobbleheads were all destroyed. But, we’ve got one in our possession and are giving it away courtesy of Play of the Day.

This contest couldn’t be any easier. We’re all about conversation here on BSR, so we’re going to give this bobblehead away to the best comment on any BSR blog post this week and you can comment as many times as you want!

Whether it’s the most hilarious, most intriguing, most engaging, most extravagant or outrageous comment, the BSR staff will vote on the best and send you the bobblehead!

So leave your comments on our posts, talk sports with us and you could win!

UPDATE: Ol’ Bruz is the big winner. Congratulations!

VOTE for the winner of BSR’s 4/30 ticket giveaway!

We’ve selected five finalists for our second ticket giveaway, this time it’s the Orioles vs. Red Sox on April 30th.

We asked the fans why they hate the Red Sox and were overwhelmed with pride for the O’s. Now it’s your turn.

Vote for your favorite answer and choose who we send to the game!

Kelly – I hate the Red Sox- yeah, I do.
I hate the red and I hate the blue.
The hype over Fenway, their arrogant fans- that stupid Green Monster…
completely absurd.
Come down to Baltimore, boys – and kiss our bird. ┌∩┐

OriolesMagic89 – In the early 2000s, the Red Sox started winning steadily and with the Orioles struggling and Yankees being despised in Baltimore, it somehow became acceptable for people to root for the Red Sox at Oriole Park at Camden Yards and throughout Baltimore. When asked, most of these people grew up in Baltimore but don’t know why they root for the Red Sox. These traitors have since begun an all out invasion in order to make sure that they are known as the most obnoxious fans in the country (tied with Yankee fans). We need to drown the park in orange in black and show the Red Sox some true Orioles Magic! (Also, only a Red Sox player will throw a 72 year old bench coach [albeit a Yankee] to the ground in a brawl!)

Ian Davis – Why do I HATE the SAWX? 4 LETTERS- E S P N

Phil – RED SOX, I hate their irrelevant name, what do Red Sox have to do with the city of Boston, give me a break! Their fans are complete idiots, quiz any Red Socks fan and I bet they can’t name more then 5 players who have ever played for the Red Sox prior to the current team!!! Their fans are a bunch of clowns coming to Baltimore and thinking they own the place, I’ve seen more bloody Red Sox fans leaving Camden Yard than any other fan (Yeah O’s!!). Honestly, just the idea of socks that are the color Red make me sick. And to top it all off, the best player they ever had has his head frozen in a freezer somewhere…….DUMB!!!

Greg Embert – Two words: Ben Affleck

Polls are closed. Thanks for all who participated!

BSR welcomes GableSigns as Corporate Sponsor

Yesterday afternoon, BaltimoreSportsReport.com and GableSigns and Graphics Inc. signed an exciting new partnership for both businesses. BSR welcomes GableSigns as their corporate sponsor helping to assist our website in promotions, giveaways and contests. GableSigns has always had a strong local connection in the Baltimore sports scene and has created projects for the Ravens, Terrapins and Orioles.

“We’re excited to be working with a company with such great ties to the teams we cover here on BSR,” editor Zach Wilt said.

This deal allows BSR to continue to expand to a wide audience and to be proudly represented by a strong company that is passionate about Baltimore sports.

“When I see the quality and passion invested into an idea like BaltimoreSportsReport.com, I feel very fortunate to have our company connected in the way we are,” GableSigns President Paul Gable said.

GableSigns work can be seen throughout the Baltimore sports environment. In 2003 they hoisted the 50 ton, 125 foot M&T Bank Stadium signs at the Ravens Stadium. Opening Day Tickets Winner

Congratulations to @broncolts for winning the BaltimoreSportsReport.com Opening Day Ticket giveaway. When BSR asked “what would you do for Orioles Opening Day Tickets,” broncolts responded, “I would walk from my home in Pikesville to Camden Yards with O’s written on my chest and a megaphone yelling go O’s.” We’re going to hold him to it!

BaltimoreSportsReport.com has lots of great giveaways planned for the rest of the year, including more Orioles tickets. Stay tuned and thanks to all who participated.

O’s Fan From New York – Drive 5 hours from my house in Brewster, NY to Baltimore, sleep in my car if I couldn’t get a hotel room and my cousins from northern VA were out of town, park in Little Italy and walk a mile to OPACY to save money on parking, and dress like a maniac that would literally fight to the death for The Orioles.

Christos – I would turn my car into an oriole bird and beep my way through town and scream at the top of my lungs!

Adam – I have been an Orioles fan since I was born, I bleed orange and black. My grandmother saw the first parade they had when they came in from St. Louis. I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on Oriole memorabilia. In any case I go to opening day every year. This year in particular I cannot afford tickets because of my wedding. I would do just about anything to get tickets to opening day. I would give a piece of my memorabilia to some random O’s fan walking at the game. Has to be an O’s fan though.

Lazaros Stavrou – I’d Dye my hair orange have an O shaved in my haie, somehow shave my chest hair with the O’s Logo, Wear so much orange that you could see me from the Moon, And be the loudest fan in the stands booing the Blue Jays ang cheering on the O’s

@tyjohnson1 – To make it to opening day, I would skip my Friday classes, wake up at 6 a.m. and drive straight from Raleigh, N.C. to Baltimore because I can’t miss the O’s taking BP.

AviM – What I would do for Baltimore Sports Report and the Orioles:
1) Make some posters that say the website’s name and Orioles and hold them up between innings!
2) Using paint, write BSR on one arm and write out BalSportsReport on the other!
3) Dress in orange! including Orioles shoes, orange high socks, facepaint, shirt, hat!
4) Use Orioles tweeters to whistle all game when the Orioles get hits and runs!
5) Yell for the O’s and BSR until my voice is completely dead!
6) Get a blank orange foam finger and write BSR in big letters on it!
7) Put BSR on an orange pennant and wave it around!
8 ) During the anthem, yell “O BSR!” instead of just “O!”
9) Sing Orioles Magic while waiting for gates to open, including chants of BSR in it!
10) Tell people that Ripken, Palmer, Murray, and the Robinsons all use BSR!!!

@Broncolts – I would walk from my home in Pikesville to Camden Yards with O’s written on my chest and a megaphone yelling go O’s

Jen Olin – I am a huge Baltimore O’s fan. I live in Fairfax, VA and I would make a huge sign promoting BSR as well as the Orioles. “Let’s go O’s! I love BSR, read BSR. I would also promote helping out with Habitat for Humanity.” I really really want those tickets. My mom recently passed away and I have lost my job about 3 weeks ago. I go every year and don’t want to miss this year. I really really would do anything to get these tickets.

BSR Fantasy Baseball League

Since we are now a thriving blog community, it is a good time to start the 1st Annual BSR Fantasy Baseball League.  I assume we have enough people to field a league.  To be sure, reply here is you want to be part of the league.  I would like to get 10-12 teams in the league.  We are looking at a head-to-head league with standard scoring.  A couple of items up for debate/discussion are what type fo draft to have.  We can go with a standard draft or an auction draft.  Also, does anyone have a preference about what service we want to do the league with?  My recent fantasy sports experiences have been with Yahoo and ESPN.  I have had little trouble with either, but I was curious if anyone else had an opinion about this.  We can also discuss a prize for the winner of the league.

Ravens Sign Stallworth

Various outlets are reporting that the Baltimore Ravens have signed recently re-instated WR Dante’ Stallworth to a 1 year deal worth $900,000. Stallworth was just re-instated by NFL commissioner Roger Goddell over the weekend. He was subsequently released by the Cleveland Browns. Stallworth did not play last year while serving a suspension for vehicular manslaughter.

I have to say I am surprised by this move. I did not think that the Ravens would go near Stallworth considering his mistakes and the image risk that comes with him. I also am not convinced that Stallworth will have much of an impact with the Ravens. He does add a speed element the team has been missing at the receiver position, but how much will he have lost after a year layoff?

I would assume this is just the first addition the Ravens will make at the position and they are clearly not expecting Stallworth to be a go-to type of receiver. It does show, perhaps, that the Ravens are more serious about getting talent to compliment Joe Flacco. And maybe ore willing to take some risks. At $900K the financial risk is not too great, but you can cue up the Ray Lewis, Jamal Lewis ex-con jokes.

So what do you, the BSR readers, have to say about signing Stallworth? Good move, bad move, or indifferent?

Because There is No Hockey in B’more

You should be routing for our friends just South of  Charm City- The Caps.

Last night, the Capitals pulled out another consecutive win (11) breaking their franchise record set in the 1983-1984 season.

Anyway, a good buddy of ours, Ian Oland (Matt Wieters Facts), has also been running a Caps Blog this season called The Russian Machine Never Breaks. It’s good stuff so please check it out! Oh Yeah, Go Caps!

Maryland Dominates Longwood 106-55

In a game that was never in doubt, Maryland won their final non-conference game against Longwood in the Comcast Center 106-55 on Tuesday night.  Maryland at 12-5 will now return to ACC play against NC State at home on Saturday.  Longwood falls to 4-15.

Maryland had and never lost control of this game.  They dominated an undersized team at home and did well on every aspect of the contest, from defense to shooting to the boards. READ MORE >>>

Maryland Stymies BC in with Help from the Fans

Maryland came out gunning last night in it’s second road game of ACC play and received a little support from an unlikely source – the fans. The crowd, with 5 minutes left in game, began to chant “Lets Go Maryland” as Maryland rolled 73 – 57. Great guard play from Greivis 17pts/9assts/4brds and Cliff Tucker 14pts fueled the effort before a pro Maryland crowd.

The Terps have been shooting the ball very well as of late finishing this game at a 49% clip from the field, including 58% from 3 range. That’s phenomenal for this team and something Gary really hasn’t had in past years. READ MORE >>>

Divisional Playoff Game Preview: Ravens D v. Colts O

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off perhaps their most complete defensive performance of the season and this time the opponent was not the Cleveland Browns.  The Ravens shut down the vaunted New England Patriots and in doing so looked as if they found new life in the legs of their defensive line and greater focus and playmaking among the secondary.  You could argue that the injury depleted Pats did not have the man power to put up much of a fight, but for the entire afternoon the Ravens dictated, out-hit and out-worked New England, serving notice that they would be a tough out in this tournament.  The things is, however, they are going to need to be even better this week in Indianapolis.  Can the Ravens play their best game 2 weeks in a row?
