The NFL lockout didn’t do anything to cool off the heated rivalry between the Ravens and the Steelers this offseason. We highlighted the war of words between Ray Rice and Ryan Clark following Hines Ward’s DUI.
This week the fire continues to burn as Ed Reed took a shot at Hines Ward for playing dirty in a quote on ProFootballTalk.com
“I love Hines as a player and I told him that,” Reed said. “But I told him also for a long time, ‘You’re a dirty player because I know how you play.’”
Reed has had run-ins with Ward in the past and called him out for a series of cheap shots last season (video below).
Now that week one is officially penciled in the smack talk begins to have more meaning. Hopefully the Ravens can live up to it all.
Ward is gay……………….and dances like a fairy………
Just a buildup for the opening game, thats all. To Spy, a very well thought of response. Bet it took you a whole week, to come up with that one.
Just proves the Steelers and particularly Hines Ward are already in the Ravens’ heads.
Who’s in your head ,,,,,,,might it be SPY………better yet , Who’s your Daddy ?
Can the Ravens fire Harbaugh already? Harbaugh is already setting this team up for an opening day blowout loss…
Lets see…
Starting Fullback – McLain – GONE
Starting Tight End – Heap – GONE
Starting Receiver – Mason – GONE
Important Backup Veteran QB – Bulger – GONE
End Around Specialist – Stallworth – GONE
Offense was bad last year and take away McLain, Mason, Heap and it’s even worse. Now don’t take me wrong on this, if the Ravens sign someone better than that’s great but I just don’t see it.
Outside Boldin who are the other receivers?
Rookie Torrey Smith? Starting Tight End? 2nd year player Ed Dickson?
Veteran backup QB? Hunter Cantwell?
I just don’t see the Ravens making a big splash with a free agent or two or three…
Ravens2488,
Harbaugh is not the problem. The front office makes the moves, so if you want to throw blame at someone, throw it at Ozzie Newsome.
As far as that goes, it’s not guaranteed that McClain, Mason, and Heap won’t be back. In all likelihood, Bulger and Stallworth are gone, but that’s hardly a surprise to anyone who followed the team last season. Smith replaces Stallworth without a doubt in my mind, Stally didn’t offer a ton to the offense on every down like Smith has the potential to do.
Regarding Bulger, that’s a different issue, but the Ravens should be fine there. There are a bevy of FA quarterbacks available (Tyler Thigpen, Brian Brohm, Trent Edwards, Chad Pennington, Billy Volek, and many more).
And as you said, if they can add a big-name free agent such as a Jonathan Joseph or a Santonio Holmes, that would be brilliant. Just my thoughts, don’t get too down on the team before they have a chance to even put together their roster.

@EDGAR – Harbaugh is the problem and if you don’t think he tells Ozzie who he wants/doesn’t want then you need to relook at things. Harbaugh got rid of “LEADERSHIP” in Mason and Heap. Something Harbaugh doesn’t want on his team. Harbaugh is a control freak. He wants “Yes” men on his team so that he can give out his “Varsity” jackets…
As for Stallworth that was my little dig at how he was used last year and him leaving is no biggie…
Brohm, Thigpen, Pennington????? You comfortable with those clowns behind center if Flacco goes down? I’m alot more comfortable with Bulger than those guys…
@ Edgar and Ravens248 ,,,,,,,,,,,you guys are both right , they are both part of the problem , if you throw in Cam Cameron it’s a wonder they made it to the playoffs last year,,,,,,,,,,if this team had a decent head coach and GM they could beat the Steelers , until then Bisciotti will just have to admit he made a mistake with Harbaugh , although he will not say it out loud……….Go Ravens,,,,,,,,,,
