Joe Lunardi, a bracketologist on ESPN.com, has the Maryland Terrapins listed at high as a number two seed for the NCAA Tournament after last week’s wins over Rutgers and Michigan State.
[quote_box_center]Today’s bracket will help answer both questions. A combination of favorable weekend results, including the Terps’ impressive season sweep of Michigan State, has Maryland at No. 8 on the new seed list and a No. 2 seed in the latest NCAA projection.
This is pretty rarified air for a program that hasn’t seen the good side of Selection Sunday in five years. Going back further, Maryland is just 6-5 in the tourney since the 2002 national championship and hasn’t made it past the first weekend since the year after they cut down the nets.[/quote_box_center]
The Terps haven’t danced since 2010 and are just 6-5 in the tournament since winning it 2002.
Lunardi adds that Maryland’s remaining schedule has them sitting pretty. He expects the Big Ten title to be decided on Maryland’s matchup with Wisconsin, which happens to be on February 24 at College Park.
