For the first time since January 24th, Mikahil Grabovski skated in practice for the Washington Capitals.

The Washington Capitals, after their 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets, for the most part, had today off. Various members of the Capitals did not skate this morning, including Joel Ward (personal/family reasons), John Carlson (unknown), and John Erskine (unknown). Two players who haven’t skated for a while did skate this morning: Mikhail Grabovski and Mike Green. While neither of the two are expected to play tomorrow night when the Capitals face off against the New Jersey Devils, it’s encouraging to see both of them skating. Grabovski  has been battling an ankle injury and Green is recovering from a concussion. They should both be back after the Olympic break.

Adam Oates announced that Braden Holtby would start in goal for the Capitals on Saturday. Three players could join Hershey over the break: Casey Wellman, Julien Brouillette, and Patrick Wey.

In other news, Marcus Johansson will be joining Team Sweden for the 2014 Olympics as an injury replacement. That makes 5 Capitals and 1 Capitals prospect who will be skating in the Olympics.
