“Jeremy Guthrie” and “run support” are words that just don’t seem to be getting along this year.  The Orioles ace fell to 1-4 last night after another solid performance on the mound.  Two of Guthrie’s four losses this season are quality starts and in only one of them has he allowed over four runs.  He also earned a no decision in a gave in which he pitched six scoreless innings against the Boston Red Sox.

Still, Guthrie takes the high road and chooses not to complain about the lack of love he has received from his offense.  “Nobody in my position, w/all that I have been blessed & while playing a great game, is justified in making excuses or complaining,” he tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com points out that the Orioles have scored just 1.41 runs per game in Guthrie’s 17 losses since the start of last season.  Hopefully the O’s will put up a ten spot next time he takes the mound.
