Brian Roberts has missed over a year with multiple concussions, but he’s expected to return to the Orioles lineup tonight to face the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Now at age 34, Roberts’ abilities are very unknown. He rehabbed at three of the Orioles affiliates and appeared in 14 games between Delmarva, Bowie and Norfolk. Roberts went 10-for-42 in those games, recorded 5 doubles, a home run and 4 RBI.

While Roberts return is fantastic news for the sports world in this day-in-age of concussion injuries, he will likely replace fan favorite Robert “Bob” Andino. Bob was the hero of the 2011 season and became an every day player in Roberts absence.
In 2010 with Roberts back from injury and Buck at the helm, the Orioles finished with the best record in baseball for the months of August and September. Here’s hoping father time has not caught up to Roberts and history repeats itself.
