UPDATE: Roch Kubatko reports that Nolan Reimold has a bulging disk in his back and could rejoin the team in Boston. “There are no current plans to place him on the disabled list.”
There aren’t many 2-1 games in Bronx. The Orioles lost one last night. Something tells me that tonight will be the complete opposite of the game one pitcher’s duel.
Early today, Roch Kubatko tweeted that Nolan Reimold took the train back to Charm City to get checked out by team doctors as he had tingling in his fingertips related to his neck injury. Needless to say, Reimold is out of the lineup tonight and Endy Chavez will fill in at the top of the order and in left field.
Last week I asked whether Reimold’s neck would land him on the disabled list when he missed three of four games on the O’s road trip. I was reassured by the three straight he played at home against Oakland and his start last night, but now I again have to wonder if this injury will continue to plague Nolan and sit him down for 15 straight.
I want to be wrong about the guy. I want him to keep hitting .313 and finish with 25 homers, but it’s hard to be wrong with a guy that continues to have these injury related setbacks.
Look, I’m an Orioles fan and I’d love nothing more than for Reimold to hit .280, 25 homers, etc, bu it ain’t going to happen. Whether its his hamstring or his Achillles or his neck or his back or his off the field issues, it’s always something. This guy does just enough to tease you and then he’s gone. If he comes back and gets hot again, I’d trade his ass.
Nolan, Nolan, Nolan, haven’t you learned anything. You sign the big contract, then you tank it!
Angelos, sign Abreu you old cheap loser.
