Yesterday we determined that “yes, in fact it is still okay for Baltimore fans to boo Mark Teixeira.” Today we pose another question to the boo birds of Camden Yards.
Is it time to cut Kevin Gregg some slack and stop booing him?
In Gregg’s last six outings for the O’s he’s surrendered zero runs on just three hits in 8 1/3 innings of work and has walked three and struckout eight. Oh, and he recorded the win in the Orioles fifteen inning Marathon against the Royals last night.
Yet somehow, every time Gregg gets up in the pen, Baltimore breaks the internet with #KevinGreggSucks tweets.
Yes, I know he blew seven saves last season, lost the closer’s role and wasn’t happy with the demotion. But that was 2011, a season in which the Orioles were 19-21 on May 17. They’re 24-14 now, this is clearly a different team.
All I’m saying is, there are plenty of guys in pinstripes and red socks that deserve heckling. Gregg has proven to be no longer deserving of the grief.
I don’t live in Baltimore, so I’m not at the games, but I’m a HUGE O’s fan, and was at Fenway for the 17 inning game. After that game, I tweet Kevin that I was welcoming him back into my good graces.
If O’s fans are indeed booing him as he comes out of the bullpen, then those are casual fans, who make us look dumb. He has been VERY good over the last couple of weeks, and should be cheered, as he is now helping this team.
I can handle that his doing the job we gave him to do.Let’s stand together as one team.
It is for me to boo Gregg after he did this.
Yea, he shouldn’t of swung and missed at that tub of goo, old man Ortiz.
Right after this Grand Papi got back on the HgH…notice how his performance improved again? And, he was afraid of Gregg.
Kevin missed because he pushed so hard with his legs that he broke three of his metal spikes off his heel as it got stuck in the mound.
Son of a…
I’d have loved to seen Grand Papi fall on his fat ass.
I like fat asses, especially on a MILF or Spy.
Still boo Gregg, it may be working to his advantage.
F Big Papi, not Big Poppy 🙂
Shit, I stll boo, Cal “There is no I in team but there is an I in Ripken” Ripken.
Agree with you on this , I still can’t get over he didn’t fly with the team and used his own chartered jet to travel from game to game , it was all about Cal and still is , just look at what he has done to his home town , he screwed than big time and has cashed in on it ……..what a guy………
You should never boo anyone. We try to teach good sportsmanship to our children, but the adults should listen. It is OK to boo a bad call or action – never a person.
Gregg should be booed until he proves that he can do it consistently. Just because he’s had a couple of good appearances doesnt erase the hell he’s put us through for $6 million a year. I am routing for him to do well because I’d love to hear from a team with a quality third baseman needing a long reliever. That would be yet another trade the O’sies would win on because long term Gregg will always be a subpar pitcher.
