If you haven’t been paying attention, L.J. Hoes has had quite the tear with the Tides at Triple-A Norfolk.
Last night, Hoes extended his hit streak to 16 games with a two-run homer in the first inning of Norfolk’s matchup against the Durham Bulls. In 32 games at Triple-A, Hoes is hitting .295 with 11 RBI.
I’ve heard some great things about Hoes development. If you’ve liked watching Xavier Avery play this season, Hoes should be particularly fun to watch. I’ve been told that Hoes is more of a true athlete who is similar in style to Avery, but has more natural ability and instincts.
The 22-year-old outfielder could be given a chance with the O’s soon. In his last 10 games, he’s hitting .359 with a .405 OBP.
and two days later, he’s at .321.
With all the outfield problems the O’s have had this year , he would be up here if he was any good……………
I saw him play at both Frederick and Bowie. He has been rising pretty fast. I hope they don’t push him up too fast. He has also played infield in the minor leagues, so he is very versatile. His dad seemed like a real nice guy too, for whatever that is worth.
Very nice and hard working young man. True role model for youth. If you work hard and study you can earn a scholarship and then possibly make it to the pros.
