As reported by the Baltimore Sun’s David Zurawik, 105.7 The Fan’s Mark Viviano announced on Wednesday that he would be leaving the station at the end of the week after 6 1/2 years at the station.
Very sad news for fans of local sports talk radio. In my opinion, Viv is the best the local airwaves have to offer. His level headed opinion on Baltimore sports will certainly be missed.
I have always appreciated Viviano’s unbiased reporting in an age of opinion based journalism. His ability to maintain level headed with overly optimistic or overly gloomy fans is his best attribute in my opinion. He’s always provided knowledgable reporting both on a local and national level.
Zurawik reports that Viviano, WJZ-TV’s sports director, reports to his radio duties at 7:30 AM and leaves channel 13 at midnight. “You’re on the air with the radio show for three hours, and you have to put in preparation time, too,” Viviano said according to Zurawik.
Viv will continue to report with the station on occasion and will serve as a fill in host.
Best of luck to Mark Viviano, who now has his mornings free from his radio duties.
