Miguel Gonzalez Turns In Another Solid Start For The Orioles
What more can the Baltimore Orioles ask of Miguel Gonzalez? He’s been absolutely filthy since joining the O’s rotation on July 6.
On Friday night in Baltimore, Miguel Gonzalez recorded his fourth win by pitching a career-high eight innings. It took him just 103 pitches to get there and unfortunately for him, Manny Machado stole all of his thunder.
The 28-year-old rookie allowed just one run on a solo homer off the bat of Salvador Perez in the second inning and then shut down the Royals for the next six. Gonzalez walked one and struck out five.
He has allowed just one run in his last 15 innings pitched and has pitched into the sixth inning in 6 of his 7 starts as an Oriole. He’s quickly solidified himself as the O’s second best starter in the rotation.
I wrote about Gonzalez being the Orioles biggest surprise this season in my weekly column on MASNSports.com.
Solid. I’m hoping that with Hammel coming back in a few weeks, Gonzo, Tilly, Chen and Hammel take us down the stretch and put us in the playoffs. Never thought I would be thinking of that in bmore especially this late in the season.
Any word on Arietta and Matusz? I haven’t seen any update on them for a little while.
