Buster Olney of ESPN.com tweeted on Thursday that free agent starting pitcher Kevin Millwood is looking for $4-5 million in 2011. After news of Andy Pettitte’s retirement, he might just get it from New York.
Heard this: Millwood is looking for $4-$5 millon for 2011, which is significantly more than some teams willing to consider.
MLBTradeRumors.com reported on Wednesday that the Yankees have remained in contact with the 36 year old pitcher.
Millwood is coming off a 4-16 year with an ERA of 5.10 in his 31 starts with the Orioles in 2010. The Yankees have been stockpiling veteran arms though after they missed out on Cliff Lee. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in pinstripes, for at least the spring. At that price I would imagine his time in Baltimore has expired.
