Adam Jones is trying to do something that no Oriole has done since 2005 — become an elected starter in the All-Star game.

It’s Monday, which means that Major League Baseball released yet another peak at the voting and this week Jones leaped ahead of Nelson Cruz for fourth place in AL outfielder voting.  Jones has racked up 1,959,207 votes, but still finds himself in fourth place behind Josh Hamilton, Curtis Granderson and Jose Bautista.

The Orioles centerfielder is inching closing to Bautista though, whose 1,996,940 votes are just a mere 37,733 more than AJ’s total.

That sounds like it could be fixed during this weekend’s series against the Nationals.

Other O’s honorable mentions are Matt Wieters (third at catcher behind Mike Napoli and Joe Mauer), J.J. Hardy (third at short stop behind Derek Jeter and Elvis Andrus) and Bob Andino (fifth at second base behind Ian Kinsler, Robinson Cano, Dustin Pedroia and Jason Kipnis).

Keep voting Baltimore.
