While it’s tough to win when your starting pitcher gives up five runs in the first inning, it’s impossible to win if you don’t score a single run.

On Friday night the Orioles were shutout for the first time this season.  The last time the O’s were blanked was August 31, 2011 against the Blue Jays.  They have played 79 games between shutouts.

Baltimore is currently in the midst of a season high six-game losing streak.  They’ve lost all four games on their current road trip.  During the losting streak the Orioles are hitting just .233 with 14 extra base-hits.

Adam Jones, Chris Davis and Ronny Paulino have combined for over half of those extra base-hits.  Bet you didn’t see that coming.

Offensive production has gotten to carry this team if they want to be successful and during the current losing streak it’s highlighted the weakness of the Birds.

They have scored just 14 runs during this stretch.
