I love 4:00 PM starts on Saturday. It’s perfect. You go to the game until 7:00-7:30, go out to dinner and enjoy the rest of the night out on the Town. In Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg it’s probably more around dinner time, but hey that works to.
Rays skipper Joe Maddon released his lineup for game two against the Orioles and he’s sending out four switch hitters, two right handed batters and three lefties. Carlos Pena is back in the leadoff spot and guys like Jose Lobaton and Drew Sutton are getting rare starts.
Here’s their order tonight:
Carlos Pena – Left
B.J. Upton – Right
Ben Zobrist – Switch
Luke Scott – Left
Sean Rodriguez – Right
Hideki Matsui – Left
Drew Sutton – Switch
Jose Lobaton – Switch
Elliott Johnson – Switch
So what’s the method to Maddon’s madness tonight? As MASN’s Roch Kubatko points out, left handed batters are hitting just .135 against Brian Matusz this season. Right handed batters are hitting .333. I can only assume that these four switch hitters will be swinging from the right tonight.
Luke Scott is a dick, right Spy?
