Another brutal loss to the lowly Twins knocked the Orioles out of second place in the AL East last night.  At 47-44, the Tampa Bay Rays jumped ahead of the O’s (46-44).  Both teams are trying to make up ground on the first place Yankees, who continue to pad their 56-34 record.

The O’s are 3-7 in their last ten games and have committed a league leading 79 errors this season.

Now they find themselves behind the Angels, Tigers and Rays for a Wild Card spot in the American League.  It’s only half a game, but the way the Birds have played over the last month makes it feel unattainable.

This is supposed to be the easy part of the Orioles schedule.  Four games against the last place Twins, then three against the Indians.  So for the O’s haven’t made up any ground and continue to burn out their already overused bullpen with terrible starting pitching performances.
