Major League Baseball recently released an update on the voting for the 2013 All Star game and your Baltimore Orioles are getting a ton of love so far on the ballots. The Hulk, Chris Davis, leads AL first basemen with 1,176,016 votes over Prince Fielder, Mike Napoli, Albert Pujols and Mitch Moreland.
Matt Wieters trials Twins catcher Joe Mauer for the top AL roster spot. Manny Machado is second behind 2012 Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera for the top third baseman on the AL All Star team. Machado’s 723,943 votes if ahead of Adrian Beltre, Evan Longoria and Kevin Youkilis‘s totals respectively.
At shortstop, J.J. Hardy barely trials Elvis Andrus for number one at that position. Hardy’s 717,103 votes is just 10,452 shy of Andrus’s 727,555.
Then there’s outfield, where Adam Jones ranks second behind 2012 Rookie of the Year Mike Trout. Jones is ahead of Torii Hunter, Nelson Cruz, Jose Bautista, Nick Markakis and Nate McLouth. I was pleasantly surprised to see Jones so high, but bummed to see the Greek God of Kicking Ass (awesome PTY shirt, by the way) at number six with 595,698.
Keep voting! For some reason MLB allows everyone to vote 35 times per day, I don’t know why 35. Chris Davis barely leads Prince Fielder, J.J. Hardy is just behind Elvis Andrus and please show some freaking love for Nick Markakis.
Let’s stuff the ballot box in favor of the O’s? Let’s face it, the whole voting system is a joke, how can Roberts get 292K votes or Jeter get 383K worth of votes in 2013. The last time that I checked, neither had seen much action on the field. With that in mind, lets use the BSR network to stuff the ballot box like the 1957 Reds and have all eight starting position players wear the orange and black at Citi Bank. Thirty days and counting to cast your votes. Maybe BSR could pony up some O’s tickets as incentive?! Let weigh in each week with your votes. I cast my votes just now all for Baltimore.
Willo inspired me…I just cast my 35 votes…All ORANGE!!! Even useless BRob. I figured the idiot Yankee fans will vote for Jeter, who hasn’t even played an inning this year, so why not?
Hey BSR followers become part of the revolution, our way of sticking it to our rivals. In 2013, we can beat them by casting our votes as well as we can beat them on the field. It’s not Thanksgiving, but in the same spirit, lets “stuff the Bird” and get as many Orioles into the All Star game as humanly possible.
