We all know about the Orioles minus-55 run differential.  I wrote about it on Tuesday, and two wins later it remains the same.

But did you know that it has been over a month since the Orioles won a game by more than two runs?  In fact, their last two-plus run victory came on June 16 in Atlanta.  16 of the Orioles last 19 wins have been by two runs or less.

The Texas Rangers lead all of Major League Baseball with a plus-49 run differential and they sit six games ahead of the Angels for first in the AL West.  By comparison, since June 16 the Rangers have had just five of their 17 wins have been by one run.

It wasn’t always this way for the Orioles, during their 14-9 April the Birds only had three wins by one run.

That should explain part of the run differential issue.
