Henry Urrutia is headed to the big leagues. According to MASNSports.com’s Roch Kubatko, Hammerin’ Hank is on his way to Texas to meet up with the Orioles. Urrutia and teammate Danny Valencia will be added to the Orioles 25 man roster when baseball finally resumes on Friday.
The 26 year old Cuban defector hit .367/.406/.467 in 15 games in the International League with the Triple-A Norfolk Tides. He began the season hitting .365/.433/.550 in 52 games in the Eastern League with the Double-A Bowie Baysox.
Urrutia went 0-for-3 with a walk and three left on base in Sunday’s All-Star Futures Game.
The Orioles outfield continues to be crowded with Nate McLouth now playing full-time in left field. Chris Dickerson, Nolan Reimold and even Ryan Flaherty are other outfield options for Buck Showalter. It’s likely that Urrutia will serve as a left-handed DH for the Orioles, Kubatko speculates that Reimold will be placed on the disabled list to make room for the roster move.
Is this a precursor to a trade,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,or is Riemold just going on the DL ? Or both ?
I smell a trade
Welcome to the Show, Hammerin’ Hank!
This move is better than a trade…renewed energy and cost you nothing. “Crocodile Henry” will solve the O’s DH problem. Could spell the end for Dickerson?
You hit the nail on the head,,,,,,,cost you nothing…………..
The use of the moniker ‘Hamerin’ Hank’ is an insult to Henry………………..
