As discussed in this week’s episode of Birds On The Wire, the Orioles have expressed interest in Rockies left handed pitcher Jorge De La Rosa.

According to a tweet from Troy Renck, a Rockies reporter from the Denver Post, Baltimore is among the most aggressive along with Washington and Pittsburgh.

MLBTradeRumors.com points out that De La Rosa is a Type A Free agent, so he will cost the birds an early round draft pick.

De La Rosa, a Type A free agent, will net the Rockies a pair of draft picks if he turns down an arbitration offer. His Elias score is 74.422, so the Rockies won’t necessarily receive a first-rounder from another club. Also working against them is the fact that the first-round picks of the Pirates, Orioles, Nationals, and Brewers are protected.
