The bats were hot in the final game of four against Kansas City. The O’s were looking to split the series and did so with good pitching and seven more runs on the board.
Ty Wigginton got it all started in the second inning with a solo homerun. They put four up in the fifth inning, Nick Markakis‘ RBI infield single gave the O’s a 2-0 lead, then Aubrey Huff‘s 3 run double put the birds up five.
Brian Roberts tacked on a RBI double in the sixth and Felix Pie drive one in with a single to put the O’s up 7-0.
Meanwhile, Brad Bergesen was sitting them down. Bergy went 7 innings surrendering just one earned run on seven hits and six strike outs.
Bergesen is now 7-5 with a 3.43 ERA. He’s now 7-1 with a 2.68 ERA at Camden Yards and is 6-3 with 2.46 ERA over his last 12 starts.
He did leave the game after being struck by a line drive in the shin, but X-Rays were negative.
