Ozzie Newsome must not be on Twitter.
The Ravens general manager was asked at the NFL Combine if he would consider Peyton manning when he became available and according to Garrett Downing of BaltimoreRavens.com, “Newsome just laughed.”
Much like I did when I saw Ravens fan’s reactions on Twitter.
“Joe’s under contract for a year and we’ve already gone on record to say Joe Flacco will be our quarterback. If he does get hurt then we like Tyrod Taylor,” Newsome told Downing.
As Matt Lund and I mentioned on the BSR Podcast, just about every GM in the NFL will certainly pick up the phone and find out what it will take to bring Manning to their city. I would even expect Newsome to do so, but he knows the answer and the Ravens are confident in the direction of their team with Joe Flacco under center.
It’s as if all of these GREAT fans have forgotten that Manning sat out all of last year with what some medical experts are terming a career ending injury. All of the sudden, a week before his release, a grainy video shows up supposedly showing Peyton practicing at Duke and now everyone thinks he’s miraculously cured. And, oh by the way, the Ravens have salary cap issues to navigate with their own free agents and the guys they will draft, so where would they come up with the cap room to sign Peyton?
I would rather have Brees than Manning or Flacco.
Do people really think Peyton Manning is gonna pack his bags and land in a different city and will fourish like before?
The Colts built their entire team around Manning. Coaches, players, schemes, and everything else.
Let’s assume he is healthy. So what? I cannot believe how some “experts” are acting like whichever team gets Manning is gonna be getting a winning lottery ticket.
Adam Schefter actually said that the grainy video “is all you need to see” to know that Manning is ready to rock and roll. Really Adam? A few throws? How did he feel the next day? How many throws did he make? Can he turn his neck from side to side? These are just a few questions about him.
It’s almost comical.
Maybe I am in the minority, but I think under the right circumstances- Denver, Houston or Miami for example who have pieces, add a 36 year old Manning’s aging skills with average physical ability and superior on the field presence to the mix and I think you create a winner. One thing for sure, I’d roll the dice on Peyton over Tebow or Beck in an Indy Colt minute.
Peyton would not play for Ozzie if he had to………..
Hate to say this fella’s but there are certain players that I feel can and will do things that other players cannot do. Like Manning playing good again after these surgeries… Guys like Manning, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Tom Brady (And yes I do not like Brady), Aaron Rodgers, Favre, Michael Jordan are guys that I wouldn’t bet against to comeback from such adversities…
Now if this were players like Reggie Bush, Vince Young, Chad Pennington, Kyle Orton, Kyle Boller, etc. then all bets are off.
It takes a special breed that has the internal fortitude to get thru such things and I think guys in that top group I mentioned are those type…
Aw, Mr. 2488, ru funny man most time. Not so today, woud ru come with me to for dinner and talke football. We eat roast ruck, noodles, beef with oyster sauce, and rice. We discuss Payton Manning and how he help Ravens. I think good idea.
I’ve been browsing online more than three hours today, but I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made just right content as you probably did, the web shall be a lot more helpful than ever before.
