Earlier today, several media outlets reported that Drew Bennett had made the cut in the Baltimore Ravens wide receiver try out.

This evening, after a physical, the Ravens made it official. They signed Bennett to a one-year contract for the NFL veteran minimum.

The wide receiver situation in Charm City has gotten interesting. Aaron Wilson of ProFootballTalk.com reported today that he believes that Derrick Mason did indeed retire to hold out for a contract.

“At this time of year, it’s good to be able to pick up a player who has been very productive in the league, and that includes against our defense,” Ravens’ GM Ozzie Newsome said.
