Analysis: Special Teams veteran Brendon Ayanbadejo was on pace for a career year in 2009, he could have recorded 88 tackles, but was sidelined with a thigh injury on October 5.
The eight year NFL veteran and three time pro bowler has spent the past two seasons in Baltimore serving as an anchor on special teams and a defensive fill-in. His stellar start to 2009, earned him AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors against the Browns in week 3, where he posted six tackles, a sack and an interception.
2010 Outlook: Obviously the main goal for Ayanbadejo this season is to return to 100% and get back on the field as a linebacker for the Ravens. His special teams play is top-notch and last season he proved to be a threat in the middle of the field against offenses from Cleveland to New England. He was deactivated by the Ravens on August 13 with that quad injury and hopes to get into the action during the preseason.
You gotta wonder how much he's got left in the tank, especially considering the injury he'll have to overcome.
I hear you BIG guy, what ever happened to the days when guys wanted to play both sides of the ball and would throw a tandrem when the coach took them out?!
Hey, welcome Matt…where'd you play ball?
The way the rest of the Ravens lb's looked in pass coverage against the 'skins, we need BA back badly.
If you knew brendon, you would know that he always wants to be on the field. I played with him many years ago. I played offense and he was always trying to get into our huddle to take a snap or two. He used to ask coach to play both ways. Mind you this was Junior College, but im sure his character hasnt changed, first one in the weight room and last one out.
