Banks Impressed At Camp, But Thinks Ravens Schedule Could Hurt Super Bowl Chances
From behind the closed doors at Baltimore Ravens training camp comes this report from Sports Illustrated’s Don Banks who was out in Owings Mills.
Banks was impressed with Ray Lewis’ weight loss, the Ravens depth on the offensive line and Joe Flacco’s camp under new quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell. Sounds like the recipe for a Super Bowl championship, eh?
Not so fast.
The Baltimore Ravens schedule could determine their fate according to Banks. “Baltimore was my pick to win the AFC Championship last preseason, but I don’t foresee reprising that one,” Banks writes. “Not after checking out the Ravens’ brutal 2012 schedule.” He points out that the Ravens schedule has just two home games between weeks 5-12 and squares off against the Steelers twice in three weeks. “And let’s not forget about the Week 3 AFC title-game rematch with New England, which may be the highlight of the Ravens’ entire home schedule.”
Personally, I never let the Ravens schedule determine wins and losses during the preseason as there is so much of a talent shift from year-to-year in the NFL. But I can’t deny the difficulty of the New England game and playing the Steelers twice in three weeks.
It’s more like Harbaugh and Cameron will keep the Ravens from the AFC Championsip game………………
I don’t think it really matters what the Ravens schedule is. The Packers are the best team in the NFL and this year will show it again. Even if the Ravens had Bellicheck, it would be of no use.
Anvil…Spot on…Every team gets 8 at home and 8 on the road and 2 each against your division…The rest is just blah, blah, blah…
The Packers aren’t even the best teasm in the NFC, knucklehead.
the Ravens don’t care who the opponent is or where the game , 2 years in a row receiver drops winning touchdown in AFC championship . We will win it all this year
Don’t hold your breath,,,,,,,,,Harbaugh is not capable of ‘coaching ’em up’………………
larryg – Ravens aren’t goina win till Harbaugh is history… You blame the receivers which I agree with you on to a point but how about Cundiff having to run 50 yards to kick a field goal in the closing minutes while Harbaugh stood there and watched this cluster!@#$ without calling timeout?
