As the Ravens season continues to unfold their biggest story of the year will likely be the explosiveness of rookie wide receiver Torrey Smith.  As mentioned in Quick Hits, Smith’s week 11 team leading six catches or 165 yards and touchdown put him in the record books several different times on Sunday.

Smith became the 6th rookie in league history to post two 150+ yard receiving games in a season, the first Ravens receiver to ever accomplish that feat, he passed Mark Clayton for the franchise’s most receiving yards in a single season by a rookie and was the first Ravens receiver to be tackled by his hair.  The best part was that he said it didn’t even hurt.  Take that Pacman Jones.

With every clutch performance, the rookie’s confidence continues to grow.  “I am pretty explosive,” Smith told the Carroll County Times’ Aaron Wilson.  “I can run the whole route tree with confidence. I am able to get open fast and separate.”  Smith burned the Bengals secondary on a 49 yard touchdown in the back of the end zone in the 4th quarter.  Safeties Chris Crocker and Reggie Nelson didn’t even come close.

“Torrey is getting better each week as a wide receiver, Joe Flacco said after the game.  “He did a great job, and he is a real difference for this offense.”
