The Washington Capitals snapped a four game losing streak on Monday thanks in part to an bloody brawl between Matt Hendricks and Kyle Chipchura and a red balloon.

While most Caps fans will credit a looming red balloon that hung over the ice during the second period for Washington’s turnaround, center Matt Hendricks fight certainly contributed.  Hendricks dropped the gloves as the first period came to an end and received a great ovation from the home crowd as he yelled to the Washington bench and high-fived fans on his way to the dressing room.

Hendricks earned the Caps hard hat for the motivation.

This is still my favorite Matt Hendricks fight.

  1. Dude’s my favorite player. I took a newbie to the game last night (yes, even newer than me) and told him about Hendricks on our way to the game. 15 minutes in, there he goes…classic!
