Jim Palmer and Earl Weaver never exactly saw eye to eye. And that wasn’t just because of the dramatic height difference between the Orioles starter and skipper. “The only thing that Earl knows about a curve ball is he couldn’t hit it,” Palmer famously said about Weaver.
But after their careers, their differences were put aside and both were recognized as the greatest manager and pitcher to ever don the Orioles uniform.
Palmer reflected on his time playing for Earl Weaver in a video tribute for Weaver’s new statue at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Weaver’s staute was unveiled on Saturday at the Yard.
