I don’t claim to have the answer to the above question, I’m hoping the commenters can shed some light on the United States 2-2 draw to Slovenia. The USA’s defense looked bad out of the gate, but they really stepped up in the second half.
No one was happy with the officiating in the game. Robby Findley got a yellow card for a hand ball even though the ball hit him in the face, he’s got two so now he’s out for Wednesday’s match. But the most controversial call came when Maurice Edu’s free kick was disallowed by the referee (video below).
The U.S. players were furious and the ref never gave them an answer on the call. But who’s to blame?
Is it the U.S. for allowing the referees to beat them by not starting early against a country the size of Houston? Or is it the ref for blowing the call?
