Jason Berken had another bad first inning. He gave up four this time, three credited to Pat Burrell on his rocketship to right field (you’re welcome Jamie Walker).
Burrell made it a five run game in the third with an RBI single that scored Ben Zobrist.
Baltimore woke up in the third when they scored two with RBI from Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis. Roberts hit his 52nd double of the season, which broke his previous club record for single season doubles.
Matt Wieters gave the O’s a 6-5 lead in the fifth inning with a two runs single to center.
Berken hung around into the seventh inning, long enough to get the win. He went 6.1 IP, 7 hits, 5 earned runs.
Luke Scott gave the Orioles some run support with his 22nd homer of the season in the bottom of the 7th, that gave Baltimore a 7-5 lead. Then Matt Wieters tacked on a three more with a moon shot to right.
That was all she wrote. Birds win. Birds win.
