Buck Showalter still hasn’t let the cat out of the bag and revealed his Opening Day starter to the media. But Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com speculates that it could be 26-year-old Jake Arrieta.
“The Orioles will have Brian Matusz start Friday, which pushes Jake Arrieta back to Saturday, possibly lining up the 26-year-old Arrieta for April 6′s Opening Day on five days’ rest,” she wrote. Ohhhhhh snap.
Ghiroli says that Arrieta has been speculated as the O’s top choice to take the bump on Opening Day.
Arrieta has thrown 9.2 innings this spring and surrendered five earned runs. Opponents are hitting .243 off of him. He won ten games with the O’s in 22 starts in 2012.
Either him or Matusz….Matusz has been efficient and looking like the old lately. Would love to see him have a career year,,,,but only if the O’s bats can come alive during his starts.
thank you a lot i hope this will be useful for me
