It’s been a bad road trip. Going into the game the Orioles were just 5-20 in their last 25 road games and 8-19 away from the yard this season.

Baltimore walked into the final game of the 3 game series against Oakland hitting just .226 with 10 runs on the 5 game road trip. The O’s had lost 8 in a row against the A’s and 23 of their last 31 in Oakland, but looked to turn it around with Rich Hill on the mound and a shaken up lineup.

Brian Roberts was batting .091 on the road trip so Adam Jones was the lead off hitter. Jones started the game 2 for 2 and is the Orioles’ leader in multi hit games with 25. Oscar Salazar, fresh from Norfolk, filled in for Aubrey Huff at first. Wigginton was at 2nd batting 8th and Reimold batted 2nd and played in left.

Rich Hill continued the O’s tradition of terrible starts in Oakland. He walked 4 and hit a batter in 0.2 innings pitched and was charged with 3 earned runs. The Cubs gave up on Hill because of his control problems and two of his last three starts in black and orange may have shown why.

Brian Bass came on the make what was essentially an emergency start and he was basstastic yet again. Bass had 3 straight 3 up 3 down innings and allowed only 1 hit in 4.1 innings pitched.

So the Orioles gave up only 2 hits, but lost 3-0. Thanks God it’s over.
