Though he hasn’t pitched in Baltimore since 2011, Jeremy Guthrie was a hero among Orioles fans on Monday night. On the O’s off-day, Guthrie led the Kansas City Royals to an 11-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays allowing his former club to inch closer to the Rays in the AL East and move to within two games of a Wild Card spot.
Guthrie earned the win, his 13th of the season, with a five inning outing in which he surrendered one run on six hits.
While you were watching Orange Is The New Black on Netflix (I hear that’s a good show, by the way), Miguel Cabrera was inching closer to Chris Davis‘ home run mark. Cabrera belted his 43rd long-ball, but couldn’t help the Orioles as the A’s topped Detroit 8-6.
At least Guthrie did his part.
@TheRealJGuts Baltimore thanks you and the Royals for today's big win!
