Terrell Suggs seems to always be in the middle of the Ravens-Steelers rivalry. The gladiator helmet wearing Baltimore linebacker made headlines before the two teams even took the field for being chippy in his pregame conversation with NBC’s Hines Ward because he “will always be a Steeler.”
In the game, Suggs started the first of several fights after being flagged for unnecessary roughness when he dove at the legs of Pittsburgh running back LeGarrette Blount, who seemed to be already on his way down.
After the game, Blount didn’t hold back on Suggs. Via TheScore.com:
“I don’t know what [Suggs] was doing,” Blount told reporters. “I don’t know what he was thinking. He’s known to be a dirty player. As long as he does that he’s going to continue to have people come after him and do whatever we did to get in his head.”
The dive did seem a bit unnecessary, but Suggs defended the hit to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun:
"I assessed the play, and that was the only way I could get him down without him gaining more yards. I wasn’t trying to get him hurt. I was just trying to get the big guy down."
