Baltimore Orioles newly acquired third baseman Mark Reynolds is not only looking to make a difference in the bird’s lineup, but is keenly recruiting first baseman Adam Laroche. According to Jeff Zrebiec of Orioles Insider, Reynolds is “actively” pursuing his former team mate.
“I shot him a text message the other day. I was like ‘Come to Baltimore with me.’ He just kind of laughed and said, ‘Ha ha.’ He didn’t tell me much. That’s all I said to him. I think he would definitely be a great addition to the team. He’s a great guy. He was a good fit in our clubhouse. He’s a great first baseman and a good hitter. I think he can help any team.”
Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports that LaRoche is still the Orioles top target for first base.
What do you think of the Orioles adding Adam LaRoche?
i dont really know what to say about him. he is a wonderful power hitter and think we might need him come to baltimore. it'd be good addition for the orioles if we sign him. I am sure he would come down to baltimore because he knew his former teammate mark reynolds well
Yeah I would really like to see LaRoche in Baltimore too. Hopefully they can get the deal done soon.
It'd be an excellent move and really round out what would be a very offensively talented infield.
wow, Our lineup 1 – 6 could look like this :
Roberts
Markakis
Jones
Reynolds
LaRoche
Hardy
Of course you could interchange Hardy and Markakis/jones but I think that line up would give any piture fits!
Once the 1B situation gets settled I'll run the starting players through the wonderful lineup optimizer tool over at Baseball Musings: http://www.baseballmusings.com/cgi-bin/LineupAnal…
That won't take into account player preference but will give up an interesting reference point and a reasonable estimate for a mean number of runs to expect per game.
As a Dbacks fan, these guys will jack up a bunch of homers and drive in a bunch of runs. However, Reynolds is a lock to lead the league in Ks and Laroche won't be too far behind him. But if you have a balanced lineup with some contact, I can definitely see having these guys helping.
Jones in the 6th spot till he proves that this is his breakout year. put tea party favorite luke scott in the 3 spot and weiters in front of hardy. Its nice that our 8 and 9 hitter this year will bat over 250
