While last year’s first round pick Dylan Bundy beats down the door to Double-A Bowie, the Orioles unveiled their plans for this year’s pick, Kevin Gausman.
According to MASNSports.com’s Steve Melewski, the Orioles will send Gausman to State College to pitch for the Aberdeen IronBirds. Gausman will throw three innings in his pro debut.
He is expected to make six starts of three innings for Aberdeen and should have a total of 18 innings pitched by the end of the year.
It doesn’t seem like much, but with the earlier signing date under baseball’s new collective bargaining agreement the Orioles will be able to start Gausman ahead of even Bundy’s schedule.
