You can take your stupid run differential argument and shove it where the sun don’t shine. The Baltimore Orioles won their third and final series in New York on Sunday with an 8-3 pounding of the Yankees. It’s the first time since 1976 that they’ve won three series in the Bronx.
In their six wins in New York, New York, the Orioles have outscored the Yankees 42-14. For those continuing to dwell on run differential, that’s +28.
Too small a sample size or dominance against the AL East leading Yankees? I guess it all depends on what argument you’re trying to support.
Statistics are fickle and the Orioles are only concerned about one. Wins.
They have 74 of them now and are just two shy of first place.

I don’t know Zach, this whole run differential is going to catch up to them in July, no August, no maybe September, oh hell, it might not be until next season.
Win differential is what counts! Did someone say we would lose 100 games, or win 64 or win 75?
Yea, some dude sent an email and said “can’t find any reason why this team won’t lose 100 games”. Months later, it was “I guarantee this team won’t win 75 games” now it’s “Next year is going to be bad”.
Funny stuff, I guess you call those “fluid predictions”.
how about that bosox run diff. the other nite? 20-2. sweet!
At least get the numbers right. 17 runs not 28
Mis read. But 17 is the total for all games in NY not just the wins for true run diff
Statistics are for losers,,,,,,,,,the O’s are winners…………..
spy, I give you a lot of credit. You were down on this team all year, but you are man enough to admit when you make a mistake and seem to be taking your place on the Orioles Bandwagon. I tip my hat to you!
Others adjusted their predictions all season – 100 losses (62 wins) in March, then bumped it to “no more than 75 wins” in July, and now it’s “they’re going to suck NEXT YEAR”.
Sometimes we all miscalculate what a good manager brings to the table, a refreshed attitude, and hey, maybe some of these guys aren’t so bad after all.
Some guys want an All Star, big money guy at each position and then they’ll whine when they don’t produce. You need a few decent players – Jones, Wieters, Hardy, Machado, Markakis, and you build around them.
As to Mr. Duquette, my hats off to him. He found guys like Gonzalez, Chen, Ayala, McClouth, even guys like Qunintanilla and Ford who have helped to win games or hold spots while someone was injured.
In all seriousness, spy, it can be tough to sometimes say you may have miscalculated, and I admire you for stepping up and doing so.
sounds like a little bro-love …
Thanks MGW,,,,,,,,,,,I really was down on the ownership all the time and still am,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I always wanted the O’s to win I guess I got a little carried away with some of my comments,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,It’s funny what a little pitching can do…………………….
