If you didn’t believe that Texas Stadium was a hitter’s ballpark the O’s 10-9 win over the Rangers should be more than enough evidence of that.

On Monday the O’s bats made up for their loss against the Rays on Sunday scoring 10 runs and gaining offensive production through out their lineup.

The Birds had 16 hits with their top 3 going 6 for 16 with 3 RBIs. Aubrey Huff cleaned up the lineup 4 for 5 with 3 RBIs. Felix Pie had a great night at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a solo homerun in the 5th. Pie hit a shot to right field on a hanging breaking ball and sprinted around the bases. By the time he reached third he realized it was out of the park.

Pitching continued to hurt the O’s on Monday. Koji Uehara got the win despite being charged 7 earned runs in five innings of work. Danys Baez gave up 2 earned runs, while Jamie Walker and Jim Johnson held things together in the 8th.

It was flat breezy time in the bottom of the ninth when George Sherrill came in to get the save. After allowing a double to Ian Kinsler, Nick Markakis saved the game with a running catch on a deep shot hit by Michael Young. After walking Andruw Jones and allowing a double steal, Sherrill struck out Marlon Byrd to win the game and recorded his 3rd save of the year.

The Orioles play the Rangers in game 2 tonight at 8:05 PM.
