A day after the Ravens kicked off their preseason, the Orioles aimed to let their fans know that there are still two months of baseball left. They did so with a historic night at Baltimore’s Camden Yards.

The Orioles haven’t scored more than three runs in their last five games and were hitting .163 with runners in scoring position over that time.

Last night, Felix Pie hit for the cycle, the O’s set a club record with 12 extra basehits, tied a club record with nine doubles, scored in five different innings, hit .463 with RISP, and won by a season best 10 runs.

Pie was the fourth Oriole in franchise history to hit for the cycle. Brooks Robinson, Cal Ripken, and Aubrey Huff are the other three. Huff hit for the cycle in 2007, also against the Angels.

Brian Roberts had a four hit night, three of the four were doubles.

Oh by the way, Chris Tillman recorded his first win in the O’s victory. 6.2 innings pitched allowing three earned runs and dueling against his third All Star, Jered Weaver.

It was nothing short of history on August 14.
