Last night, Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome announced that the team had signed 30 year old fullback Jason McKie and waived safety Ken Hamlin. The move to bring in McKie was likely made due to Le’Ron McClain’s status after he suffered a sprained ankle in Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers.
Ken Murray at Ravens Insider emphasized that John Harbaugh continues to keep his cards close to his chest.
Coach John Harbaugh declined to reveal the severity of the injury in his Monday news conference, but said on his weekly WBAL radio show Tuesday that McClain still might play against the Steelers on Sunday.
“We’ll find out as we go,” Harbaugh said about the role he foresees for McKie. “Le’Ron may still be playing. We’ll get Jason involved … We’ll see how much he can learn, and whatever he feels good about, that’ll be part of his game plan.”
McKie was cut by the Saints this year after playing three preseason games. He spent seven seasons with the Bears and started 11 games last year according to Ken Murray.
I would suspect that the Ravens are not expecting McClain to play against the Steelers if they would go out and bring in McKie. How do you think losing Le’Ron McClain will affect the Ravens on Sunday?
