Ravens Continue To Negotiations On Joe Flacco Contract Extension

$3.123 million might not seem like a lot of money in the National Football League, but it should be enough for the Baltimore Ravens to get a contract extension done with Joe Flacco.

“Yes, that’s enough to fit in a deal for quarterback Joe Flacco, which is actively being haggled over between agent Joe Linta and Ravens vice president of football administration Pat Moriarty, with no deal imminent at this time,” Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun writes — yeah, you read that correctly, Wilson is now with The Sun.

By Wilson’s figures, the Ravens carried over $5.831 million in cap space from last season.  Former Ravens running back Willis McGahee costs the team $3.725 million in dead money.  “That just means that the proration of McGahee’s old contract is still on the books,” Wilson writes.

Despite releasing cornerbacks Domonique Foxworth and Chris Carr, those two count against the Ravens salary cap total for $3 million and $2.85 million respectively.
